    As far as keeping the razor sharp, it is just a technique that requires practice. Hang in there and you'll learn stropping techniques and will need to have the razor stone sharpened less and less. I sharpen my razor about every 6-8 weeks.

    Thanks, I am making much progress with my stropping and have been using the same razor for well over a week. While not quite as sharp as when delivered,but I am pretty amazed how many shaves I am getting out of it.

    This hobby might stay after all. Considering shaving is part of life, I might as well enjoy it !

    That's right. In time it may no longer be a 'hobby' but in the end, you still have to shave and look presentable and as such, it might as well be with something you've purchased already. As for the time requirements, don't worry about it...these days, I go from strop to strop in under twenty minutes.
