You want to know what brand it is, so you know whether or not it was made by a quality manufacturer? You want to know that, so you know whether it's worth trying to salvage? Is that correct?

My two cents is to just give a shot. You will learn a lot about restoring and honing a razor. Even if the razor turns out to be bad it's not a loss, you still gained a lot of experience on this endeavor that will make you that much more knowledgeable about straight razors.

Good luck if you do decide to restore it.
