Congratulations on a great shave and a great post. I love your enthusiasm.
There is nothing quite like a shave with a straight razor. I love using both straights and DE safety razors. I often use a straight for the first two passes and finish with DE for the final pass just for the enjoyment of it. One day this week, for the first time in months, I shaved totally with a DE. The shave was close, smooth, and comfortable. My face felt really nice. I was thinking, "Well, the DE was just as good as my straights." Then six hours later, I began to feel a little stubble poking it's way out on my face. My face was no longer smooth. With a good straight razor shave, it takes at least 12-15 hours before I start feeling stubble. I love the closeness of the straight razor shave!
[Before I get "flamed out" by all the DE fanatics, remember I love BOTH safety razors and straight razors! I am sure if I work hard at it, I probably could get just as close with a DE as I can with a straight. On this particular shave, I was using a Jagger DE89L, a razor I love, but it is pretty mild. That is why I just received a Muhle R41 and 30 Feather blades in the mail this week. I look forward to discovering their unique talents.]
Omega1975, I hope you continue to have fantastic shaves! Other Newbies should be greatly encouraged by your experiences.
Happy Shaving!
