Thanked: 21Introduction to Me!
Hi All,
Long time reader, first time poster here. In the last year I've become obsessed with straight razors, and have taken myself from absolute newbie to an ebay sniper with a good sized collection of shaveable razors that I bought, buffed, and made new scales for (out of wood, hence my name). This website has pretty much taught me all I know. Honestly, I should have signed up here long ago...
Anyway, just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself!
Dave

Thanked: 21Thanks for the warm welcome! I haven't shaved with anything other than a straight razor that I've honed myself since maybe March...that's not to say I haven't had, and still have, issues doing so! They're not always as sharp as I'd like...I guess I'm still learning the honing game

Thanked: 21I've got a story for you! When I first decided that the razors I liked the most were 100 years old or older, I started restoring them. Making the scales was easy for me. Buffing the metal was new...And since I didn't have a benchtop buffer at the time, I started polishing my new acquisition blades by substituting the buffer with a handheld drill holding a buffing wheel with greaseless compound...
After holding the drill between my legs with a razor sharp blade in both hands, I had enough close calls with death and stitches to buckle under and buy a benchtop buffer. It's been easy sailing since!
