Thanked: 0First straight razor shave...as expected.
Im new to the world of shaving with a straight razor. I used my new Dovo Best from SRD for the first time and thanks to the information available on this site I had an idea that my technique would in fact have an impact on the result of my first shave. I have a few shaves under my belt with a Parker shavette and came out of those unscathed for the most part. In fact I got a nice close shave with the last one. But tonights shave with the Dovo was challenging.
Right now my face is a little razor burned, and there are a couple places where there are some whiskers standing tall and proud but it was aweome all the same. Im looking forward to perfecting the techniques and learning more from you gents.
Thank you to all who have posted thier own learning experiences for guys like me to learn from, this site is wonderful.

Nice to read about your experience. Notes such as yours help both new and old shavers stay on top of their game.

Thanked: 993Hey Mike,
Glad to hear that you're excited! PM me if there's anything I can help with.
Might I suggest that you hold the razor tightly in your finger grip, but then use your wrist and forearm to create an uber light touch when the blade is on your cheek.
It used to be JimiHAD's old signature line, and it's great advice.
Good luck bud!

Thanked: 0Thanks Maxi I'll give that a shot. I can't wait to try it again. I'm going to concentrate also on my angle and on getting a good stretch on the area i'm shaving. Thanks again!
