Thanked: 0Already nicked my blade
So, I already seem to have ruined the blade on my razor I've literally only stropped and shaved with twice. I got it from Straight Razor Designs with a certificate of a free second honing. Do I just need to get it re-honed or did I pretty much just ruin it with improper stropping?

No it's not ruined. A little honing will fix that. Not a big job. Not quite a normal honing but don't despair.

I don't know about the blade but the door and towels are definitely in focus

Really hard to tell from the photo exactly what happened. If it did not touch your faucet or anything else that
could possibly chip the blade. What are you using as a strop?Bob

Thanked: 0Here is another pic. Hopefully this one is better.
I believe it's from my strop. I've just got a 2 inch strop from straight razor designs as part of their kit. May have touched the grommets when I was stropping.

That "may" buff out, but it's possible you've "dinged" the edge of the blade if you did hit the grommet.
Do you have a jeweler's loupe or microscope to view the bevel?
Try 100 laps on the strop, lather up and see if the glad is dragging at all. If so, call SRD and fall on your sword, as it were; I'm sure they'll be glad to help.
You might want to look into a barber's hone as well. Just in case.

If it is chipped, just get it rehoned & approach your stropping with a little more care. You don't need to use the full length of the strop.

You might also consider putting some tape or a wide rubber band over the rivets, but nothing teaches like experience.

send it for the re-honing. And time to slow down on the strop!! You don't have to use every inch of length... Just go slow and smooth.....

Yep, Done that as well, and I never figured why or what I hit the edge on. There real sensitive that way. Your ok, I also thought I was in trouble and damaged my blade. A Re-Honing, and your back on the ball with it. Seriously though, if you ever do figure out what you hit on the edge, let me and us all know. I would love to figure that one out myself.
