    Default Newb needs some opinions

    Hey everyone,
This place has been a wealth of information and a great help to my first straight shave experience, so thank you to all of you who have contributed in some way. I need some help though, i just bought a nice razor Filarmonica No747 C-mon at an amazing price and its in mostly great condition but there is some rusting where the spine meets the tip/point. It is def shave ready, but i would like to get it back to its original beauty. What would you reccomend to get rid of the rusting without damaging the razor? i can get pics if they are needed. thanks in advance

pics are a huge help, people cant give a solution usually without seeing the problem. Perhaps a little bit of clr would work? im sure others will have better options for you.

One of my first razors was a filarmonica 13, sounds like it was in the same condition as yours. I suggest oiling the razor to prevent further corrosion until you can send it away to be worked on - or until you get some practice cleaning up "beater" razors.
Filarmonica is not a practice razor IMO

Its not as easy as it seems to clean rust, do not use clr!

    Sincerely,
    Filarmonica lover.

What a beautiful etch, apply baby oil or mineral oil to the rust

Check the classifieds under "Member Services". Many guys are doing restorations and repairs these days, which is a contrast to just a few years ago. You may even get lucky and find someone close to you.
