Thanked: 22My Lord, I just had a flashback...I went to remove a razor from the cabinet, turned it upside - which, was downside, as I stored it the wrong way - and sat watching horrified as the razor came flying out backwards. Only good thing was that it didn't open on the way down, or the crash on the floor, and stayed closed the whole time, opening barely upon impact. But man, I can relate to the horror.

Thanked: 485I don't think we'd ever be able to give you good advice unless we saw a photo. It would depend a lot on how narrow the razor is to start with and how deep the chip is. If you started with a 4/8 and the chip was large, it may not be worth trying to save. On the other hand, if you started with a 7/8 or 6/8 and the chip was small, you could hone it and end up with a 6/8 or 5/8, etc :-)
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 13250Good rule of thumb
If the chip is smaller than or equal to the bevel size then that is Honing
If the chip is larger than the bevel that is Restoration
If there is a crack coming out of the chip that just SUX

Lets see how bad it is cenzo. If it's small enough, I might be able to help.
