Thanked: 0My Beginers kit
hello everyone at SRP.
i started leaning all about ...i was going to say straight razors but i actually mean shaving...ive learnt alot about it since i started my voyage in straight razors.
i started off with the safety razor and have picked it up well, im quite enjoying the whole pre shave routine.
i was given the razor from a friend of mineits a cross keys??
im currently still needing a strop and scuttle and i recon thats about it for a while till im comfortable at using the cut throat
after im a dab hand at it i will upgrade my SR and spend a bit of money on it and get it honed.

Nice kit. all you really need is a strop then... use a big coffee mug for the lather. and if the razor was not given to you shave ready then you should send it out and get it taken care of while you await the strop.
Be just and fear not.

Thanked: 109My first strop(and still in use)was an old belt. It works as well as anything. Smooth leather, steady hand and good technique is all you need. You probably have the leather and the hand the technique comes with lots of slow deliberate practice.
Don't wait to have a professional hone your razor. Do it before you use it and then you will know what good edge is and it will be clear to you how well your stropping technique is developing. A dull razor will put you off the entire practice.
