Thanked: 0Day 4: No blood yet!
So far, I've gone from starting at the right side burn, to the right cheek, to the left side burn and cheek: and today I went to the right side of my neck.
The shaves have gotten progressively smoother for each part of the face that I have the most experience with. I have a little irritation on the neck and I certainly haven't gotten my lather to a consistency that I prefer, but am still experimenting.
I'm nicking my strop slightly, but am getting better there also.
Thanks for all the help here everyone,
twomarks

I started exactly the way you are. When I was stropping last night, i noticed a nick in the leather. luckily it was just near the handle and not in the middle, so I can avoid it. Anyway, welcome to the forums! If there's anything I can help you with, just ask i'm a beginner, too.

Thanked: 194that is great to hear unfortunatly I am suffering from a major rash/reaction on my face right now and I look like a meth head I wouldn't dare take a razor to my face right now. The doc says it will clear up in a week or two...no shaving till the sores are gone ....I am super pissed about it

Thanked: 30Its been my experience so far. Nicks with a straight are pretty manly. No little tiny slice, A nice long red line that looks like you came out of a knife fight the winner.

As long as you are paying attention you will be fine. The cuts come when you start thinking you've got it licked and let your mind wander.

Thanked: 57Getting cut while straight shaving is like muzzleloading; i.e., there are those who have dry-balled and those that will.

Dry-Balled?
No powder? No patch grease?
