I do F&I reenacting, and started straight shaving as part of that hobby. Here is a great site to get a historical over view of what razors looked like in different time periods.

I know a few people involved in F & I. what events do you go to?
I'm Involved with War of 1812 and The 42nd Royal Highlanders band from F & I time period.

welcome aboard ,you will find this to be a great bunch of people extremely friendly and helpful,and you wont go wrong at all by visiting the vendor`s corner
However a word of warning,stay away ,far away because if you buy a straight razor thats it there is no going back
