Thanked: 21My best suggestion would be to check the classifieds here, there are normally several at good prices for shave ready blades. Otherwise, whippeddog.com has good if not pretty razors.

Thanked: 275I'll second the WhippedDog.com suggestion.
If your razor is from Straight Razor Designs (a new razor from Dovo or Boker), or was bought from a vendor on this site, there's nothing "crappy" about it.
. . . Why do you want another one?
I don't think you'll ever get a comfortable shave from a 1000-grit stone. When the 4K/8K/16K set arrives, you'll be able to hone to "shave-ready" status, if you have the skill to do it. A pasted strop with "green" (chromium dioxide?) paste should put the final polish on the edge.

Sorry I meant vintage straight razor.com and I was eonderong if you could tell if I was honing right by my description. Also the purpose of my post was to ask where a person can find decent shaving products, what brand and item name is, and where theese good deals are. Thanks for the insight

There's a lot of places to buy stuff but for a good low cost deal it's hard to beat whippeddog.com. The classifieds here also have some good deals for shave ready SRs.
Strops there a ton of places to go and lots of opinions as to what's best. Straight razor designs strops are a little expensive for entry lvl but the option to be able to replace parts instead of the whole strop is nice. Whippeddog also has a nice basic strop. My fav is the big mama strop from star shaving which also pretty low cost. An illinois strop can be had on amazon for a pretty low cost also.
Wet wear (soaps and creams) and brushes you get even more options. Straight razor designs, classic shaving, Italian barber, west coast shaving, amazon, walmart, target, bath and body works (only the co bigelow cream ) and many more. These are just ones that i have dealt with and was happy with. Many have options of free shipping over a certain amount. Check out the vendors corner for more options.

Thanked: 334Hi Swerve, and welcome to SRP! Although no one has mentioned it, you can usually find decent-to-excellent razors and equipment on eBay. However, I do recommend you ask one of the Senior Members or Mentors here via private message for their opinion on the specific item before you make an offer or commit to buy. You'll find everyone here happy to help you.
OH! Before I forget, check the Wiki section here, specifically "Straight Razors To Avoid." That will help you narrow down your search in whatever route you choose to obtain your gear.
See you in the trenches, buddy!

That site is kind of hard to navigate does anyone have any suggestions about their blind deals?
