Thanked: 3225Learned to shave with two 4/8 sized razors which is not recommended. In the meantime I have gotten several razors between 5/8 and 6/8 and prefer them which is likely why that size range is recommended. So long as what you buy is honed by a pro to be shave ready I don't think initially you would notice the difference in ease of use. If all else fails get the one you like the look of.

Thanked: 33I learned on a 5/8 DOVO Special and a 4/8 Robeson. I was able to get great results with both. The thing is... I still have the DOVO. And I have 6/8 and 7/8 razors, but I would say that if it's sharp, you can learn with it.

Thanked: 0Thanks everyone. I like the wooden scales much more so than plastic, so I think I'm going to take the plunge and get the Silver Steel.
