That is my #1 reason for not leaving them in the john (well that and my boys might decide to play with them).

Is there some compelling reason to store them hanging instead of laying flat like I do? I am new and curious.

If for any reason they developed a bend (like mine did when it was doubled over in the shipping box) you can hang it to let it straighten itself out. Aside from the convenience of it already hanging, that's the only reason I could think of.

I keep checking back to see if anything more unsavory has come up, like hanging the strop on a stiletto heel while you prep for your shave. *sigh*

But yeah, Bluerain, it'd be best to get your strop outta that bathroom. Can you get one of those over-the-door hanger clip thingies, screw a cup hook into a window frame, something like that?

Flat in a drawer is fine, too, if you've got a drawer with the space. I don't, so they live on the wall.

    1. Find a good spot for stropping and screw one of these into the wall.*

    2. Find a good spot for storing the strop. If you don't have a convenient, seldom-used drawer, then screw another eye hook into the wall in an out-of-the-way location.

    3. Snap a little carabiner onto your strop's hanging end for easy 'n quick transfer.

    * If necessary, learn (or promise to learn) how to fill and camouflage a tiny hole in the wall. Then convince your wife/girlfriend/mother that a tiny hole in the wall is no big deal, in the grand scheme of things.

    Good luck!

Or just a screw hook. Easy to hang and take off

I understand EXCACTLY what you're saying. My wife also likes hairspray. Foul, foul stuff, I reckon. She also likes talcum powder. We have FOUR dogs, the Dalmatian is the worse for shedding. I live in a REALLY small house (a cottage really) with a washing machine and clothes dryer in the bathroom. In the bathroom is also the toilet and shower. It gets so moist in the house in Winter, esp with the clothes dryer on that the walls are absolutely wet and dripping with condensation. My strop is hanging (from a carabiner) right where the towels are. It hangs there constantly, and has done for a year.

So, now I've painted that horror picture, while the strop is not in the BEST shape in the world, it works fine. BUT, having said THAT, my new Neil Miler strop is going nowhere NEAR that place, it's going to hang in my bedroom, as my 'Sunday' strop. I've started shaving in my bedroom, with a little table, basin and pitcher set. I INTEND to migrate to shaving in my bedroom all the time over time; but it's a bit cold and dark in the morning in there still to make much of a change now. I say this in response to the statement about the strop 'obviously' hanging in the bathroom. One of the drivers for me to look at changing location was that I wasn't happy with where the strop was hanging, it was not in mint condition; that's for sure.

Of course, taking the strop down and storing between shaves is a valid idea, but have a think about changing location, too. You don't need running water to shave; you may find a change of location refreshing.
