I did this many years ago when I got a swiss army knife as a present. I took a hair between my finger and thumb, and in a very dramatic fashion took basically a full-swing to bring it down onto the blade held with my other hand. Needless to say, I miscalculated a bit and loosened a nice-sized chunk of my fingertip. It was hanging by a thread but I "pasted" it back on and it seemed to heal after a fashion. Then about 6 mos later I was working on a car, a wrench slipped and I banged that very spot hard on some metal. And that ill-fated chunk of finger just popped right off! It had pretty much turned into callus by that time and there wasn't as much blood as I'd expected. It was just very weird.

Times have changed. I have more respect for sharp blades nowadays. And if I want to do a HHT these days, I've got to use chest-hair.

From annother post of mine: Well I must be doing things right because I took one of those vintage straight razor wannabe razors and honed and stropped it. Then I performed the hanging hair test and it did wonderfully, so I go to show my wife and cut the tip of my forefinger off literally, but at least I got it out of the way quickly and now ill be using my brain.
    Thank you,

Hold the hair between the fingers, not against them. That's the trick of it. And might I interest you in the Cut of the Day thread?
