Thanked: 247Yeah, I used to be (and am getting back into) very active at generating content (Blog and Youtube). I was talked into monetizing once, and it lasted about a week and I switched back to non-profit. There is something really pure about doing things for the enjoyment ONLY.
And something really ugly about getting paid to tell your story (that generally contains direct or indirect advice of some sort)

Thanked: 3228I find if I get paid to do something it just becomes a job and takes all the fun/enjoyment out of it.

Thanked: 1587Academia, of course, are the original "bloggers", just in a different medium and, arguably in some cases I admit, of a more rigorous and original nature. At least with bloggers you know if they are monetized or not. Academics like to think they are objective and uninfluenced by monetary matters, but you only have to look at the fight for funding and the manic need to publish research to realise they are in up to their eyeballs, even if they don't admit it. But I digress....

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 8While it doesn't spend much time on shaving w/ SR8s, this morning's Wall Street Journal, Personal Journal section, features a big spread on "In Search of the Perfect Shave." Mostly deals with using non-straight razors but does say, with respect to SR8s that they tend to offer a superior shave but also demand more time and money. True true but...worth it! Anyway, the thing I learned that I didn't know is that Gillette owns Art of Shaving. The article talks at length about the importance of pre-shave. Final interesting factoid was that Gillette watches 80 men shave every weekday morning at its shave-technology center in Reading, England.
