    Default Moonlight vs Sunlight?

Just wondering when people shave, Night or Day and if that has changed since you started using a straight razor?

Before using a straight razor I commonly would hack it out quickly in the morning. However, since starting to use a straight, I've developed and enjoyed such a relaxing ritual that I shave exclusively at night now as a calming thing before sleeping.

    Interested in others' experience/preference...

I was MUCH like you about a month ago...and before that. (I used to hack quickly in the shower with a lousy multi-blade plastic thing...then developed a passion for straight shaving that I used to relax in the evenings).

Recently, I have switched back to shaving in the morning because I faceterbate all day and like to feel smooth...and shaving in the evening resulted in noticeable roughness in the AM.

Great thread, and I suspect there are no wrong answers

Faceterbate... That is hilarious and my new word for the day! I never thought of that angle before.

For now I am still shaving in the evenings, but maybe once I get used to shaving with a SR I might shift it to a morning routine, but that is debatable since then it would mean getting up at about 4-4:30 in the morning and I do enjoy staying up a bit late most nights.

I shave at night during the week. If I happen to get the weekend, or any other day off, then I have a good ol' morning shave. The shaves after the shower are always the smoothest though.

I always shave in the morning. From my first shave with disposables, then cartridges, then DE, then shavette, and now a SR, my shave routine has always been for the morning. I have noticed that my morning routine takes longer now that I'm using a SR, but it's time well spent.

I have always shaved in the evening right after my shower.

Ya know, that is something I've never done with any razor... Shaving in the shower... Or, after a shower... I guess I've always depended so heavily on a mirror that it never worked in my head. I have read so many posts and heard so many stories about it but just never have done it. Gonna have to switch my routine up sometime and give it a shot!

I don't recommend you take your cut-throat razor into the shower with you. If you drop it, you might lop it so to speak. You'll know what I mean when you look straight down when your undressed for the shower.

@ MickR... Roger that! I was thinking about just shaving with my normal routine but 'after' a shower. Yeah, a wet steamy environment, wet hands and a lethally sharp instrument held precariously above my other instrument would not a fun time make! I imagine the greater risk would be to my hands as I'd be compelled to save the razor from certain death, but, there is just no way I could see that turning out well either way. ;-)
