Thanked: 0Spots and stains on my brand new razor?
Hi gents,
I just purchased my first razor, a Dovo, and have only had my first shave last night. I looked at it today and it has a few spots on it and it seems like a stain on the opposite side.
I'm wondering what is going on? I shaved with it, wiped it dry, placed it back in the case, and moved it from the bathroom to the bedroom afterwards (humidity in the bathroom is kinda hard to avoid in Germany).
Am I doing something wrong or is this normal? Is there anything I can do to prevent more spots?
Thanks for any input!

Thanked: 1263Depending what kind of case you have, maybe avoid putting it in there if possible...might be holding in some of that moisture that may have been left behind.
Sometimes, no matter how dry you think you got everything, some moisture remains. If you do keep it in a case, maybe get one of those silica packs or even some rice to help absorb the moisture away. Hope this helps.

Make sure to dry in between the scales also use a folded paper towel or tissue.

It's very easy to get moisture between the scales. As Ed mentioned running some tissue between the scales should do the job.

Thanked: 3227Another thing you could try in addition to drying in between the scales is to let the razor sit open to air dry before putting it in the case.

Spots and stains on my brand new razor?
I wipe it with toilet paper then I let my razor sit out on a towel for 24hrs then I wipe it all over again with a toilet paper and wipe it with oil. Then it goes in it case.

Thanked: 57Try a metal polish, gently, to get the spots off. Go light on the etchings because they will rub off. I spray my razors with WD 40 because it's a water displacing oil.

Thanked: 275You should oil the blade after use. One drop of mineral oil or any rust-preventing oil (including WD-40), spread around with a tissue, will do the job.

All great suggestions. I use ballistol which can be applied with a q-tip. Initially I was also told to get a tall olive jar, fill it with a combination of alcohol and mineral oil and then dip the razor into this mix. The alcohol will take the water out and it will also act as an agent to spread the ineral oil over the blade. Both of these methods have helped me here in humid Florida. Most important to dry the blade after you have used it. Good luck!
