    That my friend is a "buffing compound" intended to be used on a buffing wheel. Is there any other information on the packaging or have you checked the manufacturer's site to see what grit it is. Without more information, there is no way to tell if it is advisable to use on a strop. But the short answer is that you did not order what you intended. As Lynn pointed out to you, the usual strop compound comes in "crayon" form.

    Where would I find such a thing? I have found blocks like this and syringes but not crayons.
