    Default Green polishing compound?

I thought I was ordering strop past but what I got is green polishing compound. It is pretty hard and brittle. Anyone know what the intended use of this is? Do I break a piece of and work it in with water or did I just flat out order the wrong thing?

If you got the little round crayon, then leave it as it is and rub the crayon on your poly webbing or linen or canvas strop just until you start to see the color green. Do not cake it on and you're good to go. I would start off by using only 4-7 very light pressure strokes for refreshing or to finish up honing after the stones followed by 50-60 strokes on your strop.

    Have fun.

Its kind of a rectangle like a slightly smaller snickers bar. Its quite chalky and hard, brittle. Is this the same stuff?

Sounds like you might have gotten a small polishing bar. Rouge? I have not had that good of luck using the polishing compounds in place of the .5 chromium oxide products that are out there.

I think the polishing compounds are less than the .5 which is why I think I have not had the same luck with them. You can try them and see how they work for you.
