    Hello,
New member here...51 year old electric razor user for most of my adult life...
No mustache,or facial hair,I cut it all off every day...
I just bought a Crowing Rooster straight razor for $50 off Ebay...As I read on here it seems to not be a good choise...But it does have a good edge and shaves my arm hair great...
    Thanks,
    Paul..

Welcome to SRP Paul. I'm not familiar with the brand of razor, but if it's on the list of razors to avoid here, there is a reason for that. It could be that it won't hold an edge, bad steel, or various other reasons. I would recomend you PM a few of the members here that offer honing services and see about making it shave ready. Just because it shaves your arm does not mean you'll get a good shave on your face. After reading the information for beginners, give it a whirl and let us know the results. If you decide to make another razor purchase, check the classifieds or the Vendors' Corner here for deal. I would wait on buying razors off the bay until you gain more information on what to look for when bidding and buying. Keep us posted on your progress and ask any questions you have.

Thanks for the info...I originally bought the straight razor as I`m a knife collector but them I checked out a few youtube videos of how to use one for shaving and found this site from someone who recommended it..I did checkout the classified section and saw some that looked good...This one says is German Surgical Steal...But I`m gonna get a brush, shaving soap and a mug and see what happens...
Thanks for the great info and welcoming...And will keep you informed on how this Crowing Rooster works out...
    Paul...
