I don't know a thing about Larry, never bought from him, never seen any or his razors in person. So I wouldn't say anything good or bad about him. I am just saying this because I think it's worth considering.
As a forum, we do not allow any vendor bashing, which means that you will be hard pressed to find any negative posts about any vendor anywhere on this forum. Even if that weren't the case, it has been my experience that most SRP members are not the type to air their dirty laundry in public. Those who try to are usually here for that purpose alone and rarely last much longer.
There is a saying that the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, and that is what this post boils down to.

Thanked: 0I was about to move forward with a Black 5/8 best quality Dovo or a White one. SRD is out of stock
I know other places may have this razor but SRD offers a 2nd free honing which I like. They still have blonde but I don't think I like yellow.
Does SRD restock frequently?

Thanked: 37There are some nice razors in the $50-$60 range in the Classifieds, check them out, they are good beginner razors. I just saw them.
Whipped Dog sight unseen are good shavers, good for beginners also.
If willing to spend a few more dollars I would suggest a Dovo Best Quality razor. I bought it as my first razor from Straight Razor Designs, comes shave ready and you get a certificate for a free second honing.Arise, awake, and learn by approaching the exalted ones,
for that path is sharp as a razor’s edge, impassable,
and hard to go by, say the wise. Katha Upanishad – 1.3.14

Its unfortunate that you got that razor. I would send it back for sure. I have not had that experience at all. Email Larry and he will make it right. Here are some that I got from here FWIW. The Fredrick Reynolds is one of my top 3 razors and my first experience with Sheffield steel. I love it. The scales are warped on it and you can see the blemish. Also I find that he tends to sharpen to the tip of the square point but that doesn't bother me. No frowns or rust of any kind. A little shoulder wear but not enough to hurt. For a newbie who wanted vintage but didn't have the knowledge of what to look for on ebay with no honing experience it made sense to me.
