Your post is deja vu all over again to me. I couldn't have expressed my plunge into the world of straight shaving any better. You are sure to succeed because you are enjoying the journey.

I leaned on the unsuspecting suckers that run this forum very heavily for advice, picked up the information I needed, and enjoy every shave. It only gets better.

+1 on learning how to hone your own razors, that is the way to go. I made the decision early on that if I wanted to straight shave I had to learn to maintain my blade. My favorite means of honing is with Shapton stones, but by no means is that the only way to get the job done. Once the razor is shave ready, you just need to refresh the edge a little periodically to maintain your edge. Ask around and decide what you want to use.

People outside the friendly confines of the forum think I'm nuts for shaving in this manner, but in reality they're the nuts for putting up with the expense and discomfort of the modern ways of shaving.

I'm totally with you, man. I just started couple weeks ago and am hooked! I already own three razors, a barbers hone, and too many accessories... Each shave is so much better than the one before. I can never go back to electric or cartridge shaving now...
