Try it again (arm hair test) after 30 canvas and 60 leather laps stropping. Make sure when you strop you take your time and let the razor and strop do all the work. Do not put any pressure other than keep it in the strop. Then only use pressure to glide it across. Not down on the strop. Keep the stop taught not tight. And you may get the amazing edge back.

You may already be doing it right but I know the biggest obstacle for me what thinking stropping is way to easy to screw up. And all the while I was doing more hurt than help to my razors

    It gets better from here!

So, I don't have a proper strop. I'm using a makeshift one right now. That being said, it was happening before I stropped, but it doesn't matter at this point. The end result is that I'm going to stop SR shaving until I get a good strop, and then I will hone + strop and then see how it shaves.

    Sadface.

Gotcha. Let us know how it goes after you get a strop I would suggest a cheap one for the first one. You will probably ding it up a lot

My son has been using the leather belt he uses for his trousers for about a year now. He likes to be a non-consumer. He prides himself on buying trousers at the Op Shop for 50 cents...
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Well, it works for him. But he's a long haired hippy. His standards differ from mine...
I actually think it's a pretty cool thing to be able to use one's belt as a strop, I reckon you could make it work...
