    Default 4th Shave!

Well my first shave went pretty well I thought. 2nd shave not as good. 3rd shave went terrible and I thought no wonder a lot of guys had beards before the safety razor came along! Little blood spots everywhere. Well I thought I'm sticking with it and the 4th shave went great. First time I didn't break out in a sweat holding that crazy sharp blade to my face! And not one little nick! I'm starting to get the hang of the lighter touch needed and the different ways I need to hold the blade and stretch my face. I think I was using too much pressure the 3rd time. I'm even getting a little better at stropping even though I have nicked my strop a few times.

Is there a soap anyone could recommend that would be better than the Col Conks for a newbie that would make the blade glide even better?

Give any of the Taylor of Old Bond Street a chance, their great soaps. I personally like their Mr. Taylor scent soap

Thanks for the soap recommendatios guys, I'll give those a try. Thanks for the tip on blade angle SirStropalot. I do catch myself using too steep an angle sometimes. Have the most trouble right under my nose.

You could give shave cream a try too, it offers more protection. If you don't have a scuttle, a bowl will work in a pinch. Taylor of old Bond st. is good, and not too pricey....
