Same here and as much as I like and use Proraso the Maca Root feels slicker.

Body Shop Maca Root is pretty nice actually.
Off topic but close...anyone try rubbing the Williams puck on their stubble instead of trying to work the lather in a bowl? I've always had trouble lathering that stuff.

Your Wally World brush may be a dud. I had one too, couldn't build good lather, even after "figuring it out" with better brushes and soaps/creams. I'm reluctant to drop lots of cash too. The best values I've found thus far: Proraso Red cream ($10 a tube), Omega Pro 48 boar brush ($20), yes, it's nearly 4x the cost of that VDH kit, but IMO easily 10x the setup.
