I rinse the blade under the tap during the shave, toe down, pivot high, so no water gets in the pivot or scales. After the final pass, I rinse the blade under hot water, wipe it on the towel I used after the shower, and leave it open while I clean up and get dressed. Then, I put the razor away. No issues with water spots or rust. Easy Peasy.
When I shave super early in the morning for work and am trying to be as quiet as possible because everyone one else in the house is asleep (as well as everyone else in the neighborhood), I don't rinse, but wipe the lather on a towel. When I'm done shaving, I give the blade a final wipe on the towel and put it away. I also wipe my face with the towel, no rinse. I've learned a good cream also acts as a moisturizer, for me.Last edited by IamSt8ght; 04-25-2013 at 02:07 AM.

Rinse under HOT water, angled down and wipe with a tissue after each rinse. Making SURE not to get near the sharp part...
No water gets near the pivot, only shoulder high.
Wipe one final time, let air dry opened slightly then in about an hour or so, strop oil and put away.

Like Chev sez, I NEVER get the pivot wet and rinse under the hottest water. I then dry the blade longditudinally, avoiding the edge. I then gently strop the razor on the dry towel and leave open for a day or so to insure the scales and blade are fully dry. I use Tufglide and have no need to oil!
Strop and put back into rotation.
Get it on......

Hot water rinse "only the blade" with the tang up. After shave is done rinse, wipe dry with soft towel staying away from the sharp edge. Then hang on the wall with the rest of my razors.

Sorry! this is what I do as I am finished shaving! During shaving, I lay my( previously-used for hot towell applications) half-towel on the right side of the sink, folded by 4 and wipe the hairs/ lather off on it. It seems cool to see what you are getting off with the WTG and then the ATG, of course, the silent 3rd pass is nice!

I'm only 20 shaves in, but have already seen water spots. Being very methodical about drying the blade with tissue when I'm done, I never had a problem rinsing throughout the shave. I noticed first slight spotting the day after I'd left the razor on the counter just a bit too long mid-shave. Luckily, a little blue magic polish took the spots off very easily.
About the water usage. As a DE shaver, I really like Mantic's videos but - I hate how he leaves the faucet running heavily in many of them. I just turn on the faucet a moment to clear the bulk of cream and hair off the blade - with the tang up so I don't get water in the scales.
Good question. I was surprised at how little it took to start the oxidation, even when I thought I was methodically cleaning after each shave.
