Lovely collection Riaan.
Mine pales into insignificance in comparison.
Where did you manage to get the cowhide from to make your strops?Tony

ddunc bought from KMTS in PTA and we split the cowhide.
New Products - Knife Machines and Tools cc / Afri-Thipa cc
But in Joburg there is PBLOCH - PBloch saddlery, equestrian, leather goods, Stubben, pet products Johannesburg South Africa, which deal only with leather.
there you would get all you need to make a strop.

So I bought some 0000 steel wool this morning from the Manufacturer but they wouldn't let me purchase anything less than 1kg!
Looks like I'm going to be refurbishing more than just one razor.Tony

Thanked: 0Hi everyone.
Awesome to find this community still active in 2015!
I'm looking to buy my first straight razor - thinking of buying a good quality vintage razor, and having it restored.
Anyone know where to look / who to contact in Cape Town (or any other buying advice)?
Thanks so much,
Jeeten

Hi, I bought all mine from the UK, USA or Sweden. It is a great hobby and the shaves are also fantastic. In CT look out for the old english shaving shop, in JHB sharper edge and in bid or buy river valley trading. Good luck and glad to welcome one more wet shaver.

Welcome Jeeten.
As Riaan mentioned there is an SA forum.
Have a look at the library here on SRP as there is a tremendous amount of great information.
These are great articles to start off with:
