The proper amount of razors that someone should have is (N+1), with N being the number of razors that you currently have

    They said I had RAD, but they're wrong . . . I can quit anytime I want.

The reality is that you currently have all the razors you need for the rest of your life, with a little maintenance, and good stropping, 4 razors in a rotation will last a very long time. That said i dont think you will stop at 4........

For the first while, a razor may last you a month or 2, necessitating a rotation, but as your technique improves, you could theoretically get by with 2, one to use, one to hone, and rotate thusly.

I, however, am not an authority in the subject of restraint, as my exhibition of razors and assorted paraphernalia is in the triple digits, though mine is a genetic pre-disposition.

I think we need to let the cat out of the bag on this one. RAD is a happy consequence of wet shaving. The only person that will ever know when enough is enough is you. You basically have two choices when it comes to RAD.

    1. Set limits and goals for the items and supplies you want and patiently acquire your horde.

    Or...

    2. Go crazy until you are shaving in a puddle under a highway overpass!! Ha

I have been shaving for almost a year and have averaged 2.5 razors a month. Pretty modest but I have a sweet collection because I only pick the ripest fruit!!

I shave because I want to, not because I have to!

Realistically, every straight shaver should (and do) know how to maintain their own razors, meaning you're set for life. Some may send their razor(s) out for service at the beginning, but this is no longer necessary with the proper tools and experience.

Well I put one hurdle behind me this week....my hones are on their way. Being from Ohio I've been feeling this strange draw from the eastern part of the state, I believe it's coming from our local craftsman,....oh boy.

for the basic you have two razors and you are ready, but there is RAD beware of that or you stick after a while whit plenty more razors/brushes/ soap and after shave.
Enyoy your time and your razors.

I've settled on 6. It just works for me, YMMV. I touch up the edges at the same time. That way I'm pretty consistent with edges.
