Strictly from a handle point of view I would pick the Polo. I've got a Polo 8 and a 14 and a Chubby 2 and 3, I love them all, even though the 14 doesnt get much use, only on special days... I've got chubby hands :-), but as I wrote prefer the Polo handle, valued point re face lather with soaps though + depending how you hold the brush ( I get cramp from the Chubby handle if I hold it with my fingers tips) ... fantastic brushes either way!

Thanked: 3Thanks for the extra info, it seems to just add to my confusion though as earlier you state (and other sites do) a knot size of 29 and 30 where as this reference states the chubby 2 and polo 10 both have 27mm knots. There seems to be no consensus on the sizes.
The Simpsons website seems to only give overall length to.

I find holding the Chubby not to be a problem because the handle is so broad.
Knot diameter doesn't tell the whole story. You can have a knot with a loose fill but the way the knot is constructed the diameter can be huge. You can have a smaller diameter with very dense fill. So a 30mm diameter may have way more hair than say a 35mm diameter. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

The older Simpson measurements are from the Somerset outfit bought out by Vulfix and moved to the Isle of Man. Great brushes too but not quite the same as the Somerset measurements AFAIK. At least the two I have are not. If you are a face latherer, don't have large hands, the Chubby is plenty big in the grip area. For bowl lathering the longer handle of the Polo is a nice feature. The Polo and the Chubby I have from Isle of Man are both plenty dense with a lot of backbone. Also take a look at the Persian Jar. It is a nice compromise between the two, as far as handle size goes.

Pixelfixed strikes again another amazing brush and my first by him, even though I maybe slightly bias.
Knot is just being set and then its on its way.
30mm Silvertip grade A knot, set at 53.5mm loft into a African Blackwood handle with a jade base and jade collar.
The handle shape and dimensions are between a Polo 8 and Polo 10 so i'm going to be calling this my Pixelfixed Polo 9.Last edited by ivocoj1; 09-08-2013 at 02:22 PM.
