I had not tried using old boar brushes until recently, but can honestly say the Oxyclean works on all brushes and the old, stiff boars come around nicely with a cleaning and some lather. If the hairs are not falling out, it can still be a good brush, IMO. I like stiffer brushes and have 4 two-band badgers and 4 boars, 3 of which are cleaned-up oldies like the one I pictured. Love them all!

The old boar cleaned up just fine with the Borax, hand sanitizer and hair shampoo. I think we are good to go. As far as re-knotting or building a brush from scratch goes unless I can get a Muhle synthetic silver tip knot it ain't happening. Yes those Muhle synthetic silver tips are that good that I hardly reach for my Simpsons Manchurian, SOC two band badger, Muhle Retro silver tip or my boar brushes. The vintage boar brush will go nicely for a vintage shave with NOS Yardley and a vintage razor for an all around vintage experience for tomorrows SOTD.

No, actually my preference is Muhle synthetic silver tip over any of the boar or badger brushes I have. All the other brushes work just fine but for some reason the Muhle synthetics work better for me.

You're right those Manchurian's are so inferior to those synthetics you will never want to use one again so....just send it to me. You wouldn't want it to get lonely would you?

Don't be jumping to conclusions now. I prefer the Muhle silver tip synthetic brushes, I did not say that Manchurian's "are so inferior". There is a BIG difference. Would I buy another Manchurian or two band silver tip? That is not likely at this point. Would I sell that Manchurian at this point? I would not hold my hand over my butt waiting for that to happen either, it is bought and paid for so why bother. I could care less what other people prefer or think is better, that is there prerogative. Whatever works for you or YMMV.
