Seems like I can get a 'turnback' type of travel brush in Silver Tip from a local retailer here in the UK. Tempted to go for that as the price seems reasonable as well.

Thanks for the suggestion, Lynn. Anyone where they sell Thater brushes in the UK or Europe? Wouldn't mind taking a look at what they have to offer. Also, are these brushes German?

I would go to the local retailer that has that Turn back brush and check it out in person if possible. I did have a generic turn back with a silver tip knot and the rest was black plastic material. The problem was the handle walls were thick enough to make using it with the handle a PITA so most of the time I used it without the handle. I am over 6 feet tall and have big mitts. I gave that turn back to a friend when I got my Muhle travel brush. My friend informed me the other day that the knot fell out of the turn back I gave him on a recent trip. Antway, check it out in person if you can just to see if it is comfortable in the hand for use or at least have the option of returning it.

Here is an EU source for Thater brushes Shaving Brushes - Silvertip & Premium - Shaving.ie . I am sure there are more.

    Default Travel brushes

Bob thank you so much for that post. Very useful information. The store is in Scotland so a good 500 miles for me to get there...

I have had another idea in the back of my head, much as though I don't want to admit it... Get another Kent, slightly larger than the current one (maybe a BK8 or 12) and use my current one for travel. Not sure if I can get a good size of container though to keep it in...

Really trust Kent as they are fine for me and for the money I am going to pay for the turnback I might as well.

There is also the option of getting a Trumpers branded travel brush in a normal travel tube. Think it's listed as Super Badger on their site. Not sure who makes these for them. Seems there is confusing information about that online...

Will check that link in a bit. Any other ideas?

How about just doing what pixelfixed suggested in his post for your current brush. I am sure you could find the right sized plastic tubing and end caps for the project.

I ordered a Kent turnback yesterday as it was on special offer. If I don't like it I will return it and may just end up going for that Bob. I'll get a BK8 or 12 (after I've seen them) and will try and get a tube for my regular T4.

I have to say, I've been very pleased with the Kent. No shedding of bristles, very soft and yet able to retain water. Worked well with both soaps and creams and she still looks good. I'd be stupid to try and go for another company...

So long as you have return privileges you are good to go on the turn back model. Can't blame you one bit for not wanting to try a different product once you have found one that works for you. Let us know what your impressions of the Kent turn back are.

So as promised, I am reporting back now that I have received by Kent TR turnback travel brush.I've not shaved with it, but the bristles and quality are as one would expect from Kent. It's only a pure badger and I am used to a silvertip, but given that I won't use this everyday, I am not too bothered. It feels better than my previous EJ travel pure badger brush (and it's bigger), which I am going to sell.Might bring this out tomorrow for my mid-week shave and see how it goes.
