I agree. I imagine even if you were able to get to his house, the situation would be awkward at best.

No kiddin' - but if someone can pull it off - that's our Ilija

I was just saying - sometimes this might help (most likely not but I thought it's worth a try)

Matt didn't make any indications that he'd want my assistance and there were in fact several offers. I know that sometimes when I'm going through rough times, dealing with helpful souls is the last thing I want or need.

Let's not forget that before the internet...there was real life. Sometimes we forget that life does exist beyond our little online world. I prefer to think that Matt is just dealing with the real world for the moment. Let's give him time. I know that a few months ago I was not online much for a few weeks, and it was actually refreshing. But, not dealing with a tragedy like he is, after a few weeks, I wanted to return to my friends online. However, even to today, I don't spend as much time in the forums as I did prior to that time.

Thanks, Tony, for taking the steps to provide a potential resolution while keeping a positive spin on things. This provides a needed avenue in an otherwise unresolvable situation while still showing concern for Matt personally.

These fellows who have no way of finding out what's going on with their items have a legitimate concern. I'm not being negative at all but sometimes we forget in our rush to head off negative PR for an otherwise outstanding person is that real life includes honoring commitments even in times of personal tragedy, as I've had to accept with my own situation. This is especially true when you have something that belongs to someone else or have been paid in advance for a service yet unrendered.

Matt's been fantastic and deserves everyone's understanding. Yet his customers who have sent things have a right to resolve their concerns and get their property back if at all possible. I'm hopefull that with careful approach, keeping Matt's tragedy in consideration, that everyone affected through his business can find a good resolution within the circumstances surrounding Matt's life.

For those of us who pray, let's continue to lift Matt up in prayer and hopefully he'll start getting back on his feet and into the swing of life again. I know his talents are as sorely missed as his friendship.

    Glen,
I agree but often one does not handle things in the best way when under stress. In a perfect world anyone planning to step away from business would make arrangements to notify customers, send back items, etc.... I'm sure Matt would have done this under normal conditions. Not to speculate on Matt's situation but in cases of personal tragedy often people simply bail out under overwhelming grief, etc.... and may simply be unable to handle things they way they would normally. I don't know Matt's issues right now but am saying this as a general statement of what sometimes happens.
You are right it does not help ease concerns of those with items in limbo though.

For those people concerned and worried about Matt, I did see him online not so long ago reading this exact thread, so hopefully things will soon sort themselves out.

    Cheers
