I have thought about tying a knot. Designed a jig in my head pictured putting all those slippery hairs in place perfectly. dipping it in an epoxy and letting it set. Considered time and material......went and bought some knots :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
