I stick my arm and brush inside the shower, close the shower door as much as possible, then shake the heck out of my brush. I use a Rodney Neep "extra" silver tip that is very dense. A few hours after this treatment the brush is dry. I've been doing this for 2 years at least, with no ill effect to the brush.

Thanked: 458For a couple of years, I have done nothing with brushes - I don't even take the soap out. I use three brushes (for a time, it was two), the only important stipulation is that the brush is allowed to actually dry fully before it is used again, if it stays continuously wet then it needs to be rinsed thoroughly or it will start to stink near the knot.
Coincidentally, stinking at the knot is what caused me to try this.
I face later, soap generally doesn't get to the knot that way, and my biggest silvertip brush hangs upside down in the cabinet to keep the knot dry.
I've had no problems, and my brush never stinks. One of the brushes is about 6 years old now, the other 3, and the third I just turned a handle for and added this year. I think washing the brushes, unless you want separation between soaps (e.g., you don't want your tabac to smell like MdC, or the converse), is a waste of time and it's a waste of soap, too.

Thanked: 0I've been using the same AOS brush for about 3 years now, rinse the soap out, wring the brush real good, 2-3 flicks and hang upside down. Never an issue, looks the same as it did the day I bought it.

Thanked: 171I clean the brush under running water, flick it a few times and then dry it on a towel with a lathering motion and a minimum of pressure.
Seems never to have done any harm to my brushes in all those years, as I never had to throw a brush away and hair loss is almost nil.
