Thanked: 3Drying your brush
Hello to all.
I am new to this(about 3 weeks now) straight shaving, and I really love all it is about. When I am finished shaving I rinse my brush, squeeze it and dry it pretty good by rubbing the damp brush on my arms and sometimes my chest. It dries it out good and sort of acts like a cologne. I was wondering if this could mess the brush up, or harm anything? Thanks to any for any compliments. By the way, you smell good for a good while too.

It might be legend, but I was told not to squeeze or rub them. I just shake it out well after rinsing and hang it bristles down.

All I can tell you is that I flick my brush maybe 10 times like snapping a whip. Get the water out and hang it overnight to dry. Next time I shave I use a different brush and stand the first one up where the brushes belong. Kind of a rotation. I only rub my brush on the puck or when I'm leathering my face. That procedure has been working well for 40 some odd years.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

After rinsing I give it a gentle squeeze and then flick it out in the shower stall. Then it hangs bristles down until dry. I have enough brushes that I can rotate them so I only use them 1x every two weeks or so. I shave every other day.

I flick it about 10 times and gently paint it back and forth on my towel around my waist (as I shave after my shower). I make sure the handle is dry and hang it up. I've had no issues after many years.

Thanked: 1184Rinse a lot, squeeze a little , shake the dickens out of it, hang, rotate to something else the next day. I don't know where I got the idea to do all that but it works :<00
