    I think jsmith said it really, if you want a new brush get one, if you don't then don't. If your old brush still makes a good lather then you don't really need a new one.
    As for hardness etc that again is more about what you want from your brush. I like a stiffer brush but others like a softer more luxurious feel. I really quite like the omega 10098 that i got a week and a bit ago, they are fairly cheap too, stinky for the first few uses though.
