    Default Boar

I have had this brush since I first started shaving and it has never gotten wet. Not sure why but boar has never interested me.

Well my wife and kids are out of town so I am bored. I honed a razor and started digging through all my equipment and I found this brush. It's the weekend so I won't shave, but I got it out, soaked it and lathered up some soap. It has to be the cheapest brush on earth but man... I LOVED IT. Now I need to buy a nice boar brush. I feel like I have been cheating myself all this time.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a really nice boar brush?

I love my Semougue 1305. It eats up hard soaps and generates a great lather. I don't feel that it is a good face lathering brush, but does great in my mug. Also the brush has gotten better with every shave; softer, but not loosing it's backbone. I have heard that the Semougue 830 is better for face lathering. I am going to order one, but I have to wait due to the constant shaving items that have been coming to the house for the past few weeks.

    Omega 48 Pro

The best shaving brush for me.
The greatest loft, the most ergonomic handle.

I have a Semogue 1305 and an Omega 10066 and face lather exclusively. For some reason I gravitate to the Omega more. The Omega 48 Pro looks to have a larger knot than the 10066. If I got another boar brush I would lean towards an Omega. Don't forget that it will take 2-3 weeks of everyday use to break a boar brush in to get the best out of them.

Like BobH, I have an Omega 10066, which is 24mmx54mm. It has been a regular in my rotation for a year and a half now. You can get them from $10-$12. The Semouge 1305 has a good knot, but the handles are notorious for their paint chipping and peeling. You can get the same knot in a plexiglass handle.

    10066

For a little luxury PM Oscar1953 if you like his brushes. You can see them in the SOTD. I just sent him a 17mm boar knot.

I really like the Omega 10049 with the loft shortened up a bit.
