Simpsons sythetic
Bobh, thanks for your suggestion, I finally got around to this Simpson Chubby2 synthetic. Wanted something for travel convienience . Well here goes
they didn't have the cool blue one you got but I did get the silver tip.
I am a big fan of the handle, I'll say that up front.
second this brush is soft on the ends, with a great deal of backbone, another plus on my end , cause the brushes I get from my favorite grumpy old guy I. California and my metal master inKansasCity set the loft low For that stiffer backbone
it took 4-5 days for me figure out the water ratios, been using badger for a long time ,over 30 years. So it was a difference In Building my normal, lather.
i got it now and I,m finishing my shaves with enough lather that is still thick, rich , with lots of glide. I stayed with MDC throughout to stay true to the testing
my opinion, and as always YMMV, great brush and it'll stay in my travel bag , and it does dry extremely fast. Thanks for reading , Bob had me interesting so much I just had to get it. Tc“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

Turn all my water to wine! Man my retirement might get a little confusing drinking the wine all day!!! Tc

Thanked: 1184This confirms what I been hearing/reading about. I mean I might have to try to mount one of these synthetic knots in a DD brush not that Pixel is grumpy because he can't fish no more :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Now that is dry. Reminds me of some of the places I was drilling oil and gas wells for the last 40 years with the exception of Alaska and the gulf. And don't get me wrong , I like Bill he always tells it like he sees it ,, would have made a good roughneck! Hell I,m just as bad. Let me see one of your duck brushes with the new synthetic when you do it, they are soft , and the ones Bill puts in the makeup brushes are my wife's favorite even better than the natural Sable ones. Thanked: 3223Glad you like your new brush. Yes, the synthetics take a bit of getting used to in how they handle water and it takes a different technique from badger or boar. I don't know how you do it but I just dip the tips in sink water, slight shake, go to the puck and shake some more water onto the puck. Then build a paste, go back and just skim the water with the tips and load a bit more. Then build the lather on my wet face adding water as needed by running the tips across the water.
If you dunk or soak the whole knot you wind up with a watery mess running down the brush handle onto your hand. They really are that different in how they do/don't handle water retention.
Other stock synthetic brushes from makers other than Simpsons seem to have much higher factory loft settings. They are, for me, not as nice to face lather with as I like to feel like I am working the brush on my face. Just a little too floppy for me although they do lather well for those who like that feel. The Simpsons Classic 1 synthetic brush has a very similar face feel being short lofted relative to other synthetic brushes similar same size.
Anyway enough babbling from me, keep on enjoying that brush.
