Thanked: 2591I hear a lot of high praise for the Silvertip D01 Two band Shavemac knot. Some say it is the best knot available currently.
I have Thater 49125/3 and love it, I am considering the Shavemac knot in a custom handle and that should cover all my needs.Stefan

I hear what Robin is saying, but I have had a Thater 2-band. A nice brush, really. I have found it somewhat of a gamble buying knots, but the 2-banders from TGN are every bit as good most of the time, IMO. I might be 'good brush blind' I suppose, but as I accumulated a few with NICE handles which lathered equally as nice, I sold the Thater as it cost so damn much, I could not bear to saw the cheezy handle off to install it into a proper handle. Should have done it anyway, in retropect! Besides....Is not all badger from China these days? Yes, anything over 24mm seems wasted in a badger. Just Me. YMMV

"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Have you looked at Savile Row. I have the model 3126. It has the softest hair tips of all my STB brushes. I have Rooney's, Thater's, WSP High Mountain, Frank Shaving etc.
Brush aficionados in the know say the knots come from Shavemac. I really don't know but it's a very nice brush.

Have two Thaters, 4292/5 and 4292/3 great brushes. I'll certainly buy more. They are worth the price.

OK, now I see how BAD progresses...
Over the weekend I went to NYC, got to visit Pasteur Pharmacy
Got a nice Omega black badger travel brush & a tub of Tabula Rasa Steampunk soap.
What a place, they have tons of shave soaps- the Brit T's, Xpec, Phoenix, Soapy Bathman, Razorock etc
Gobs of Omega brushes, I got to inspect a few Simpson$...
So back to the Whipped Dog- which came a week late due to USPS.
The brush is a hard soap destroyer, it really loads well & when face lathering it just explodes.
Reasonably soft, a touch skritchy, great backbone. Still washing out the badger smell...
Now I'm wondering if I shoulda gone for the 22 or 20mm sunk deep???? but I like it, just bigger than what I'm used to.
