Jarrod did good. He replied late last night that he'd have mfg. send a new one with special attention to the quality of the knot. Will post when it comes in.

Jarrod did make good on the replacement referenced above, but like the first one, it too shed badly. He told me upon replacement any future issues would need to be addressed by the manufacturer - VP Leon Hardy. Earlier this year I contacted VP and they too made the replacement. I used it today for the first time. About two dozen bristles fell out. I’m going to use the new replacement for the next two weeks as a break in period and I’ll report back. But I will say it’s not off to a good start. I recently got a new Savile Row and Shavemac and neither had any bristle loss issues.

In the picture above, the new replacement brush is on the right, the second looser is on the left.

I purchased one of the LH 700040 brushes from Jarrod. It has a 26 mm knot, so it is a little smaller than the 700050. I have not had any shedding issues with mine. It is my favorite brush, even better than my 26 mm WSP high mountain white stubby and my 24mm Savile Row. All three are great brushes. I just wish I had ordered my Savile Row in 26 mm. I find the 24 mm SR does not hold quite enough soap for a 3-pass shave due to the bulb shape. A 24mm knot is OK for a fan shape, but I prefer 26mm in a bulb shape.

I love my VP. Softest bristles of any brush I’ve seen. I hope this new one holds up as I give it a “Hardy” workout over the next two weeks.

I have the 700030; have had it almost 4 years. 23mm knot, about 55mm of loft. Excellent brush. I lose a single hair every now and then but nothing to be concerned about.

Day 2 - lost 4-6 bristles. Yesterday's first use may have washed out all the loosies. I'm much more hopeful this VP brush will be just fine. I've commented before how soft VP's bristles are. I took greater notice tonight that the brush tends toward the floppy side. No worries. Just variety. Lathers the Van der Hagen puck just fine. I think I'm going to like this brush just fine.

Nearing the end of the first week. I've used the brush every day, save one. On Day 3 lost only 1 bristle. Since have not lost any. I get home to Houston tomorrow from Toronto, but I'll use it one more week daily before putting it into regular rotation.
