Thanked: 7I used to have this problem. I solved it in a pinch, maybe it will work for you.
Soak the brush longer than the time it takes to shower. Soak the entire knot, not just the majority of the hairs. I used to not soak the entire knot because I didn't want the water to mess up the wood. THe brush would shed a lot. Boar hairs are very brittle, very easy to snap them. THey need to be made pliable at the base so that they don't snap there. THat's what was actually happening to my brushes. THat's why they were shedding.
Hope that helps.

My SOC SE Badger/Boar is sadly also a shedder. It drives me crazy as I love the handle and I was hoping for the performance of my Vulfix Grosvenor in a larger knot size and it seemed this would fit the bill.
Sadly this hasn't even been used enough in the multiple years I have had it due to shedding.
I know I am not offering you any solutions, for that I am sorry. Basically just letting u know u aren't alone as far as this experience with Semogue.
Even more frustrating for me perhaps are all the rave reviews about various semogue brushes/knots!

It's not that Semogue aren't good brushes, they are. The issue is consistency of quality through their line.

Thanked: 3225Glad that did the trick for you.
Last 3 or so years I have been cold water shaving and don't soak my boars, just swish them in cold water, load soap and face lather. So far no shedding problems.
Unfortunately, no matter the maker, some bad knots slip through from time to time. That is the time when you find out how good the vendor and/or the maker is at setting things right by replacing the brush.
Then there is brush abuse by the user that could be the cause of the problem. It can be hard to tell if it is a faulty knot or user abuse that is the cause of the problem.

I have a semogue shaving brush and it was shedding hairs every time I was using it. I am not 100% sure but I think it stop losing hairs after I stop using hot-warm water either to rinse it and before shaving. I used to put it inside a cup with warm or hot water before shaving while I was taking a shower.
