Thanked: 0My semoge owner's club boar is still shedding and it's really discouraging.
Hi guys. I bought a semogue owner's club boar about 6 months ago and had 40 days which I've lathered it (from 1-3 times each day). The problem is that it use to lose like 2-4 hairs almost every day that I use it and now it still loses like 1-2 hairs. I just used it today and it lost 3 hairs. I'm really worried now because it was quite an expensive brush. Is that still normal? It worries me enough that I might just bench the brush because I don't want to use it anymore.

Thanked: 0Ok. It's just a shame though. I heard so many good things about this brush.

You should be contacting your vendor not us, we can't fix what us screwed up, or maybe from your other post about this brush it's on you. But it's not an expensive brush, so maybe just buy another and move on. Tc

Some brushes are shedders no matter the manufacturer or the price.
Most shed at first and then stop. Yours will probably always shed so you need to deal with that or send it back.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 0Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember making a thread about this question or this brush. In fact, I just went through all my threads just to make sure I didn't. I did make a thread about the semogue owner's club "Super Badger" brush which I contacted the vendor on and got it resolved (different vendor). In fact, I probably should make a thread about what happened because it might interest people to know if that is the brush you are referring to. I am just asking if people here have experience with the boar version (or any boar boar because I've never made a thread about boar brush shedding). I thought a simple question like that didn't need me to call the vendor as I assume it would be experience many people here would just know about. If someone here told me about their experiences if it is normal, then I would have "moved on" and kept lathering it for a couple more months and then contact the vendor if it is still going on and get over it. You said "maybe from your other post about this brush it's on you" and I'm assuming you meant to type in "We can't fix what u screwed up" (correct me if I'm wrong), but I have to my knowledge made no thread about this question before or brush shedding or even a reference to draw on. Also to me, this is expensive for a boar brush (bought it off of srd for 45$ plus shipping) or in general because I don't have that money to throw around. Thank's for everyone's help again.

You dont seem to be having a lot of luck with brushes:
SOC #1 - a few mm undersized
B&B essentials - a few broken bristles
SOC #2 - sheds a bit - is this the replacement for SOC #1 that you said you were returning on the 15th of april?Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 0Well, the SOC brush that I asked about on april was the SOC Super Badger from SRD and the brush I'm referring to in this post is a SOC Boar brush I got from another vendor. I contacted SRD about the Super Badger if it is okay to possibly switch it to another brush that is closer to the 55mm loft and wider diameter. I then got an email stating that they checked their brushes and were surprised to see that all the ones they had all measured 50mm. They said they weren't sure if it was a typo or if they changed the brush over the years. They offered a refund and changed the 55mm measurement from the SRD website to 50mm after that.
The B&B Essential brush I was asking about because I think I stupidly pressed too hard on a soap when lathering when it was new and some of the bristles in the middle looked like they snapped off. I posted a thread asking if snapped bristles will split because I read somewhere that boar hairs don't split below a certain length. I asked it before I lathered it 30 times because it was a limited color and I wanted to know if I needed to just buy another one later before the color ran out.
As for the boar brush I'm referring to here, I'm asking because I never had a boar brush shed 1-3ish hairs consistently after 40 lathers and if it's normal for the SOC Boar.
I have 9 or more boar brushes and 4 different badger brushes and I never had another boar shed consistently for this long. I also bought the SOC Boar with three other boar brushes at the same time (semogue 620, 830, 1250) and the other ones don't pose the same concern. Off the top of my head, the other boars that I own are the Semogue 620, 830, two 1250's, 1800, Omega 10065, 10066, 10049 and B&B Essential. (My favorite boars hands down right now are the 10066 and the 10049).Last edited by Ponypox; 06-08-2016 at 02:13 AM.

The short answer is no. I have 2 SOC boar brushes which shed some when new, but don't now...probably stopped after 5 shaves....BUT, I never press hard on soap, and I never store a brush standing up. I would guess that the pressure is/was the issue, but I'd still contact the vendor or Semogue.
