Thread: Scuttle - How to use?

I have the Moss scuttle. As long as you have at least 16-20 oz capacity and you have reasonably hot tap water all you need do is fill the jacket and inside and let it sit a spell then refill the jacket with hot water again and it should keep the lather warm for the entire shave. If you use boiling or really hot water many soaps will break down with really hot water and you will lose your lather.

Yup - that stunning, ocean blue, pot of lather bliss on the right completes me and warms me every shave...last night I fed it some "88"....:-)

Love the one I have as well.
I sit it in the sink basin and fill it, and the basin at the same time.
Pull the scuttle out to make my lather but leave the basin full for rinsing.
Shaving Bliss indeed!

Well, I guess that's next for me. Where do I get one? A really good one...

I've been looking at purchasing a scuttle and I'm curious if anyone has tried a moonstar pottery scuttle before? I really like the look of them but worry about the size.

Georgetown Pottery makes a nice scuttle. They sell directly, just Google the name.

I prefer just a brush warmer; I build lather on my face, which I've found to be easier, especially with soaps. Building a lather in a scuttle first can be quite a workout, and the brush warmer accomplishes the same thing...warm lather. It also takes up less space in a cabinet crammed with soaps and creams...

Edit: I have a GP scuttle that I used to use, but the brush warmer is from Dirty Bird Pottery.
