Thread: Review caught: Shaving.ie brushes

Good morning ya'll,

Anyone try Shaving.ie's brush line?

I'm looking at their

Stumpy XL 2 Band Special specifically. knot/loft=32/54
or
Black 2-Band Special knot/loft 25/50

The prices are a little concerning...pretty cheap. XL is less than $50 and the other is less than $40.

I'm debating between maybe grabbing one of these or just sticking to my plan of saving for a Shavemac D01 2band. I'm getting a Shavemac, but it's going to be a while considering I'll have to sell a testicle to pay for the thing.

I know shelling out $40-50 for an inferior brush is just going to put me $40-50 farther away from the Shavemac, but I've only got one brush in the rotation now and I've got a bad case of RAD going on.

Also, If you're in the states and ordered from Shaving.ie did you get hit with an import fee?

not familiar with the brand but recently bought a brush from Stirling soap co. for around the same price point and have been pleased with it.(guess what i'm saying is that a low price doesn't always mean inferior quality).
Also, can one really sell a testicle for extra cash?

Thanks tintin...was wondering about Stirling too. Totally agree with you on price and quality. I've got a Col. Conk Silver tip I really enjoy. Think I bought it based off Geezer's recommendation (can't remember who's post I was reading).

The Shavemac is going to be my introduction to the high end lines.

And yes you can sell a nut if you know where to look. Legal too!

Selling a Kidney is way more lucrative.

If you really want the Shavemac save for the Shavemac.

There is no real substitute for a D01. I'd just continue to save for one and get that. Actually the prices vary depending on the handle. Contact Rudy Vey and see what he might be able to do

I vote for saving for the Shavemac. Just keep saving. You must have bigger testys than me. I couldnt get much for mine.

I would propose you consider the Maseto Shaving 2-Band Finest 30mm ones. They are very inexpensive and great brushes ($50 shipped); fantastic backbone and very soft tips; the knots actually measure larger than the 30mm. The ones I have are 32mm+.
You can find them on ebay.

Of all the brushes I have own(ed), badger, boar, combination of the two, horse, and synthetic...the Shavemac D01 is the best knot I have ever used in my nearly 40 years of wet shaving.......**mic drop**

I had a shaving.ie silvertip brush and the quality was very good. I have a strong suspicion these are from one of the popular Chinese manufacturers so, in other words, not special but not too shabby either. I would go direct to the source though, Celestino's recommendation seems to be worth considering as I am myself.

I'm am considering one of these brushes from shaving.ie. It's my 1st and possibly only badger, do you think I'd be better off getting one from Sampsons or such like ? Thanks in advance
