I have a D01 2-band, 22x46 fan. It has mellowed a bit in 2+ years. But it is a messy brush. I intend to keep it: I do appreciate it for what it is and does, but if I had a redo I would get the 3-band.

The trick is only burning out the ones you don't use.

    Now you tell me.

As far as bands... i know it stands for the differnent color changes in the knot. As in cream, black, cream being a 3 band. As far as difference in what else, i dont know enough to help and be accurate.

As a generality 2 band knots are stiffer/less floppy than 3 band knots. At least that is my impression from the ones I have from different makers.

Here you go .Shavemacs explanation of their different knots. Very enlightening.
Only thing is they don't really tell you the lathering characteristics.Like which one hogs it more than others.

I decided to go for a 23mm D01 given WCS's blowout sale going on right now on these.
Got the brush shipped to my door for cheaper than I can get just the same knot from Shavemac....
