This thing is something special but it will take some getting used to. I've been using my vulfix turnback style brush for about 6 months now and the shavemac is so much bigger and I think it soaks up more water. I think once I get the right amount of water to cream down we will be good

I think I'm starting to get along very well with this brush. I give this thing 3 thumbs way way up!!
I still love the vulfix and plan on keeping it around but I think the shavemac will be getting all the attention for the foreseable future

It seems like the shavemac is doing a great job on the soaps but my creams are so runny. This thing absorbs water a lot more than my smaller vulfix. I'm wondering if I should pair my shavemac with my soaps and my vulfix with my creams....or maybe I just have to spend more time getting to know my shavemac. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend you stick with the Shavemac for just a little longer -- find & use its full potential!
So, you either are going to have to use more cream in your mix, or figure out how to remove more water from the brush before mixing with the cream. Two ways -- shake vigorously to remove the water, or squeeze the knot in your fist.
Good luck!

Stick with the SMac
There is a big difference between how shavemac and the vulfix. As you said the shavemac does hold more water
so you might want to play around with your water and cream ratio. Add a bit more cream.
You can also pump the brush once or twice when creating lather this will help.
since it has so much water already try to shake a bit of the excess water in the sink and add more water as needed to get a decent lather.

I use my Shavemac 177 for both cream and soap. It works very well for both, but tends to need a bit more soap than with my other, smaller brushes. I don't need more cream, however. I start with a pretty dry brush (shake out most of the water) and add water as I go. With an "almond sized dollop" of cream, and the proper amount of water, the Shavemac whips up tons of creamy lather.

Definitely a Shavemac is the way to go. Love mine.

well, I'm loving this brush but I've been using soaps lately (I just got some tabac and kent/mitchells wool fat and both are good stuff). I'm going to have to give the creams another go in the near future but I'm loving these new soaps (but my creams might be feeling a little neglected so I will have to give them some attention soon.)
