I use my Shavemac 177 for both cream and soap. It works very well for both, but tends to need a bit more soap than with my other, smaller brushes. I don't need more cream, however. I start with a pretty dry brush (shake out most of the water) and add water as I go. With an "almond sized dollop" of cream, and the proper amount of water, the Shavemac whips up tons of creamy lather.

I just got this one from some wonderful person and I love this brush more than any I have tried. I do shake out some of the water for cream. I highly recommend it.

well, I'm loving this brush but I've been using soaps lately (I just got some tabac and kent/mitchells wool fat and both are good stuff). I'm going to have to give the creams another go in the near future but I'm loving these new soaps (but my creams might be feeling a little neglected so I will have to give them some attention soon.)

I guess I came down with a slight case of retard because the shavemac worked absolutely fan-titilly-tastic with the cream today. I guess I just had to get used to using a real brush. I'll still keep the vulfix turnback around for travelling and maybe buy a full-size vulfix sometime but I'll be sticking with this for a while I think
