Send it back to Shavemac. There is no better knot IMO.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

I know back in Nov. 2019 you had contacted Shavemac about a Shavemac brush that was an extreme shedder and were told to send it back for examination. Is this the same brush and what did Shavemac say?

The last Shavemac brush I bought was also in November 2019. It's a 24mm two band silvertip (not D01). While it hasn't shed at all, it has been terribly scritchy. I always like to help break in a brush with 3 or 4 hand lathering sessions. For shaving I only face lather. I realize badger can be a little scritchy at times, but this brush was causing me irritation. Tiny red bumps from the prickling tips. I stopped using the brush for shaving and returned to my break in method of lathering with the brush on the back of my hand for a week or so. Also did a soak in a vinegar and warm water mix. This all seems to have reduced the scritch quite a lot, but it's still not without some scritch.

Try a good rub with a hair conditioner like Pentene. Rub it in, rinse it thoroughly, hang to dry.

Thanks for mentioning this. I forgot to include in my post that I have put conditioner through the brush a couple times. This definately made the hairs softer.

Honestly I forgot I had mentioned it here.. He wanted me to send it in for examination and if it was determined to be bad he would replace the knot but shipping it to him and back was gonna cost way to much and with the fact that last Sunday shipping rates went up it was gonna cost even more now so I figured I will just get another knot and put into the handle.

The only recent experience I have had with replacement knots is buying a Maggards 28mm SHD 2 band badger knot. They were very good to deal with and the knot turned out to be very good in use. I get another if I had need again.

Thanks. I had looked at a maggards knot. I was even thinking of one of their synthetic knots.
I will check them out again

I've purchased more than a dozen Shavemac brushes and knots in the past ten years, and haven't experienced your difficulty with shedding or being too scritchy, except for the scritchy D01 2-band. I've also had nothing but excellent customer service from them, and I'm sure he'd replace the knot if it were defective. If you want to replace it with another premium knot with very soft tips, I'd suggest a Thäter knot, which I think are only sold at BullGoose. Since you face lather I'd recommend the Thäter 2-band Silvertip.
