Thanked: 13245The Shave Den Again !!!!!
These are some pics of the Soap Bowl Shelf and Razor Cabinets that I made for my "Shave Den" I will try and remember all the questions about some of the stuff and answer them in the thread....
The Soap Shelves were made out of scrap cedar and had almost zero cost...
The Soap Bowls were found at Walmart ($1.97 each) they are Anchor Hocking Sugar Bowls put to a much more noble use...
The soaps in this pic are all Glycerin, and were melted into the bowls using the double boiler method, by placing the bowls in about 1 inch of boiling water (not a rapid boil you don't want water in the soap) you can gently melt the soaps to fit perfectly... No I don't use the microwave to melt in the soaps as this can wreck the scent (ask Mama Bear)
You can do the same with Milled soaps by grinding the soap with a cheese grater then pressing the shredded soap into the bowls (not in this pic they are on a different shelf but they look the same)
The Razor Cabinet was also made from scrap wood but the heavy plate glass and the hardware did cost a little, maybe $50 in parts on this one, so still not bad!!!!
The glass is countersunk so when the door closes it seals against moisture..
The razors on the left are all Dubl Ducks just 3 spots left to fill that side !!!!!
The right side is the Shumate collection gotta love those scales on some of them!!!!
The rest of my razors sit in 3 drawers, the bottom one for restores in progress, the second one for, well ones that I will probably sell, and the top drawer for my current rotation...
I am in the process of making wooden trays that will hold the razors separate, and that will fit the inside of the drawers perfectly... (pics on the way when I finish them up)
The Strop Mirror that the wife just got me to add to the den, she actually figured out that I could use the hooks for my strops.... (Gotta love this woman)
I reinforced the mounts so that I can actually use the hooks for stropping, however the mirror is now just for decoration
I'll post more pics as I get some of the upcoming projects finished...
Next is the Micro-microwave for hot towels, I have to figure out how I am going to set it up and build it in !!!!!

Those "sugar bowl" lids look like they would be great to use as a lather dish too.

Love the Strop Mirror Glen......I was trying to remember last week who it was on the site that collected Shumates.....I need to PM you sometime (when I'm more awake) about the ones I just acquired. I have zero knowledge on the brand. Great setup!!

Yeah! The Shave Den is back, baby!
That is a sweet setup - I'm excited to see the drawer built-ins you're going to make for the rest of your razor collection.
Thanks again for posting (or re-posting?)!

Thanked: 1That setup is indeed quite nice. I'm kind of jealous, I've never been really handy with tools.
